As a member of our team, one of the things I’ve come to appreciate most is seeing how beautifully children can respond to acupuncture.
When people hear “acupuncture,” they often picture an adult treatment with lots of needles. But treatments for children are typically much gentler and are always adapted to the child’s age, personality, and comfort level. Sometimes we use just a few very small needles, and other times we incorporate gentle acupressure or other techniques.
I’ve seen children come in feeling stressed, restless, or nervous and gradually become calm and relaxed during their treatment. It can be amazing to watch a child’s whole demeanor change as their nervous system settles.
Acupuncture may be used as a complementary therapy to support children with things like stress, sleep difficulties, headaches, digestive discomfort, muscle tension, and seasonal concerns. Every child is different, so we always take an individualized approach.
What I love most is helping children feel comfortable with the experience. When they leave feeling relaxed—and sometimes even asking when they can come back—I know we’ve created something positive.
For me, pediatric acupuncture is about much more than the needles. It’s about giving children a quiet moment to slow down, feel cared for, and allow their bodies to reset.
